My 3rd is already past two and I'm not ready either (and neither is she, for that matter). There are more important things than potty training. She will eventually learn, and it won't have mattered when (unless she's in college when it happens). Best not to stress an already over-taxed mama, I think.

Thanks for sharing!Sarahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15498715600254435346noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2173054993762076586.post-55359954985948350282010-07-22T19:18:58.109-04:002010-07-22T19:18:58.109-04:00Those first few months are always such a blur. Each baby is different!

We tried baby wise with Audrey and it was the worst! It only lasted a few days but I still feel so guilty about it! She was not the baby that would cry for a bit and drift off to sleep. She would cry until she made herself sick. So I decided just to use the schedule the give and that's it.

Cluster feeding is in the Baby Whisperer (something kind of like it is in Baby Wise too.) You feed the baby every two hours near bedtime including the last feeding where you basically feed a sleeping baby or "dream feed" them so that their tummy will be full, and hopefully sleep a little longer. It was very easy to do this with Audrey, but Jack wakes up too much to where it's definitely not a dream feed or not enough and he doesn't eat anything, haha. So I think I'll just wait and try it with him when he's a little older.

Question about you being out of the house, I just wondered if it disturbed Issac's sleep if you were out after his bedtime or if you adjusted his "last" feeding accordingly.

Thanks for your help and advice!Carlahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10595009497951921780noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2173054993762076586.post-24373064030140856062010-07-22T08:05:16.077-04:002010-07-22T08:05:16.077-04:00Carla,
loaded question/subject. Ask quickly as ...Carla,

loaded question/subject. Ask quickly as possible. Ezzo is the author of "baby wise." A book that I don't really like. Some things are helpful (as in Eat, play, sleep cycle- which i disagree about when you should start that) and also i agree that helping a kid learn to fall asleep on their own is important (but i differ on methods/age of that, too). I do allow my children to cry but not the way the book calls for. And the book slams childwearing, which i think is absurd and just plain stupid.

So with that said, all my kids settled into their own rhythm fairly quickly (eating every 3 hours). but against Ezzo.. if they showed signs of wanting to eat at 2 hours or 2 1/2 I feed them. it didn't ruin them.. it was generally just for a day and then they would return back to that. I also NEVER wake a sleeping baby (except in the first 5-6 weeks, but only during the day). I definitely don't wake a sleeping baby at night. Which is what happens with our kiddos. Isaac will eat at 6,7 or 8 and then we put him to bed and follow his eating desires (which happen to work out for a long stretch) until about 6-7 months. At that point at that age I try to ween them off that middle of the night feeding (or 2 am feeding in this case).

What was your question about being out of the house?

hope that helps. I haven't heard of cluster feeding. What is that?

I basically approach the whole subject as read whatever books you can, take what you can use and leave the rest. Not everything is a good fit for everyone. ;-)Rachel Garcia, CD(DONA)https://www.blogger.com/profile/05481183994435059363noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2173054993762076586.post-62954475526669903412010-07-22T01:32:15.087-04:002010-07-22T01:32:15.087-04:00There's no shame in posting irregularly. Have you found it better or easier since you have older children to do it your way, feeding them for the last time around 7ish? (I mean obviously you have... You're doing it :) And how does that work out if you're out of the house? And also what is "Ezo"?Carlahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10595009497951921780noreply@blogger.com
