I absolutely loath when my children fall asleep 10 minutes before we pull into our driveway. I woke them up, they ate lunch and now they don't want to go back to sleep.
Have I mentioned how much disdain I have for this?
Feelin' your pain, friend. An older mom revealed to me her secret with her 4th child to keep this from happening. It was a water bottle and she'd keep spritzing her until they got home. I haven't ever done that, but we did find a song called Tickle Time for when the glazed eyes appear. Luckily, I could reach back and tickle them and it helped them stay awake. Another trick I learned from another mom was have a cookie/snack ready at a certain landmark not far from home. They'll talk to you about the cookie/snack until you reach the landmark. Once they have the cookie, it will keep them awake until you arrive. Zach has fallen asleep only once with the cookie in his hand. ;)
I used to have this problem, and I agree - it's ROUGH! But for some reason, Ali grew out of falling asleep ANYWHERE but in her bed, with the lights off and the sound machine on. I suppose there's good and bad to both. *sigh*

We roll the windows down and sing LOUDLY and dance so that the girls won't fall asleep:)
