Operation Organize: Treehouse.

As I said in an earlier post, the decision to "organize" our house came from the realization that while it was still on the market (and has been for a year) we needed to accept that this was our house indefinitely. And we were happy with that.. but we just needed to make it our own, again.

That process started with my husband and his deciding that whether it was an eye sore or not, he was going to build the kids tree house. A process he started when we originally put the house on the market a year ago, but took down when the realtor said that a tree house may not appeal to all buyers. So, believing we would sell quickly, we held off on the tree house. Until last week. My husband said, "that's it. I'm building it."

So this was the beginning of our "Operation Organize" even though a treehouse isn't exactly organizing. Either way, my man is an awesome craftsman.

Here is the tree before:

And AFTER:
complete with a ladder, a route for a climbing wall and a rappelling rope.

And here it is being used.. with kids throwing water balloons at a moving target below.

I can not brag enough on my handsome man for the hard work he did (in a WEEK) in this Alabama summer heat! The kids LOVE their new treehouse.

Thank you babe. You never cease to amaze me with your talents.

feeling a bit nostalgic..

I uploaded some old pictures onto my computer from my external hard drive so that I can make some memory books.
Looking through the baby pictures took me back. I hate to say it.. it goes so fast.

i look at these pictures and I can't help but feel incredibly blessed. With the man holding them and the babies themselves.

When mommy is away..

So, on Monday nights I go to my accountability group.. and daddy has full solo reign over the kids..

The kids dance outside at night, with their guns. Clothing optional.

And you don't have to clean your face. EVER. And daddy gives you Dora bandaids even though the rule is: there has to be blood to get a bandaid.

That's why we love daddy's.

And it is his birthday today.. that awesome daddy! Happy birthday my sexy mex! I love you immeasurably.

Chunky, chunky

So Eva is our biggest baby, to date.   As a family, we call her many sweet nothings:

Angel baby
Love muffin
chunky monkey
anything chunky related

Anyway.. it's a little family admiration for a very healthy baby girl.

Anyway.. cue tonight.. I had just finished nursing her on the couch.  My dear husband comes over to talk to her.  Here is the conversation:

Me:  Eva, where is daddy?  (she is looking for him).  There he is.   Aww.. there is your daddy.  Eva one day he is going to walk you down the aisle.

Big Jorge:  Well at this weight I'll have to roll her down the aisle.

Oh I laughed so hard.. even Eva got a chuckle out of it.

(please understand this was all in good fun and we aren't putting our daughter on a diet).

Packing and preparation..

The fam and I are leaving on a 6 a.m flight Thursday morning headed to Colorado. Our first white Christmas, ever! I am supposed to be packing.. but am not. I generally wait until the last minute. My birthday is also on thursday and what better way to spend it than in an airport with three precious kids three and under? Jealous?

My husband called me today and said he lined up a sitter and wanted to take me out for dinner. Hibachi here I come. So exciting. Keep in mind, I was supposed to get ahead on packing tonight. Rather eat. Hibachi. Yum.

Hope you guys have a great night!

What about your Filet Mignon??

I've said it many times and was saying it today to a family member (who happens to be "leary" of marriage):  "you just haven't met your filet mignon yet." You've only been exposed to sirloins.  But once you meet your filet you will want to be with him forever!

I've done this before, but its time for an update. I was inspired after reading this post by Amanda. I love my man, my filet mignon.  Here are some of my favorite reasons.

1.  He chose me.
2.  He is directionally challenged: He needs me. Im his Garmin.
3.  He thinks the craziest things are funny: He makes me laugh.
4.  He's a nurse.  Which means he doesn't have a problem checking my problems.
5.  He takes out the garbage.
6.  He kills all bugs.
7.  He takes the kids on outings.
8.  He laughs at me.  This is a good thing.
9.  He tries to see how far we can "make it" going up the hill without pushing the gas pedal. See #3
10.  He never sings the correct words to ANY song. On purpose.  Even children's songs.
11.  He appreciates me.
12.  He plays the devil's advocate.  But I always know he agrees with me.
13.  He takes care of my car.  Changes the oil, checks the tires, etc.
14.  He studies Gods word.
15.  He leads our family in prayer.
16.  He always walks between me and the street.  With our kids too.
17.  He always opens my door.
18.  He loves his babies.
19.  He is so HOT.
20.  He truly is my best friend.

Here are some of my precious moments that make me appreciate him all the more.

So do a post about your filet! And put a link for it in my comments so I can check it out!

Sick Sunday...

My husband is SUPER SEXY.. especially when he shows off his great daddy skills..I guess that's why his name in my cell phone is "A Sexy Mex" (Mexican, duh).
If you were wondering why he was "slinging" Eva.. here ya go.  He was holding her and she wanted him to be standing up (read here.. would only stop crying if he was standing up with her) and then his shoulder started to hurt so he donned the sling and all was well.. and didn't miss a beat of the game!  How's that for awesome?

Later she was talking with me.  Of course we stayed away from discussing politics ...ya know.. to keep it light.

How in the world did a crab and a turtle get in my house slippers.........
aaaaahhhhhh.....

I rented Kung Fu Panda for the boys today (Sunday.. mommy's home sick) and they were mesmerized.  Alex is a cuddle bug so he climbed up in his big brothers lap..and for once, Jorge didn't kick him out.  It may have something to do with the fact that they had just spent two hours outside playing and they were EXHAUSTED..  still cute and we had to capture the moment.  Alex looks tense but he's really as relaxed as they come.

I like this one because they were holding hands right before I snapped it.  Will this embarrass them one day?  I hope not!

As I said.. I'm sick.  its a cold.  Got it from my awesome husband.  Eva has it too.  Just snew in her nose.  The worst part about a cold, for me, is when I can't breathe through my nose and then the ability to taste is lost not too far behind that.  Oh well, hopefully it will go away soon.
I hope you all have a great rest of the day!

Adios!

Field Trip..

Eva got to visit her daddy today while he was at work. After I took the boys to MDO, she and I headed over to UAB to see daddy (and show her off). ;-P Then we went to lunch at Los Juanes (yum!). It was fun introducing Eva to the people at Jorge's work, since I feel like I know them from stories he tells me (good ones, guys!).

Me and my handsome hubby..and Eva of course..and the jolly green giant (paci).

This is Harriet (holding Eva) and Jennifer..they are on the same surgical team that Jorge is on.

Thanks ladies for being so sweet with my baby girl.. it was fun to show her to you guys!

On a different note.. when I brought the boys home and put them in their beds for nap time Alex and Jorge decided to have a contest.  Who could yell the loudest and longest in one single breath.  Of course they were happy and laughing hysterically while they screamed for about three minutes.  I thought about going back there and putting an end to it.. but it was quite funny..and I thought, "what is it hurting?"  Then after about three minutes of it.. it got very quiet.   Very quiet.  The kind you think, "uh oh.. what are they up to?"  But guess what, they were passed out asleep.  So note to self:  if you want to wear your kids out.. let them have a screaming contest!  lol.

Random post with random photos

So I am a little sleepy today.  Several people have commented that I must be so tired because of the baby confusing night and days.  But the truth is... Eva just sleeps all day and night.  Well of course she eats every three hours but so far has not stayed awake at night.  I just get tired from being awake to feed her in the middle of the night.

Then last night she pulled a trick out of the bag.  She would not eat.  Every time I put her to breast she would scream, bob her head as if she were directionally challenged and get angry.   this cycle went on for the better part of an hour until around 1 a.m.  And not only was she not going to eat.. she was wide awake.  I guess because she was still hungry and waiting for me to fix that problem.  But I was clueless.  I just held her in any way that worked.  We both got to sleep at around 2 a.m .  Anyway, she is much better today.  Happy to nurse and sleeping as usual.  And my awesome hubby watched all three while I took a nap this morning.  I sure am going to miss him come Monday.

I do have a "busy" week this week.  But I am so excited about it.. the whole being by myself thing.  I want to see how I handle it all.  My husband has pampered me so much and allowed me to rest and stay off my feet, etc.  So I will certainly miss the special treatment but I do want to see how I handle being by myself with all three. Not sure when we will visit Chickfila again...lol.  I'm sure it wont be too long.. I did the same thing when I went from one to two kids.. I was nervous for about a month and then I ventured out.  I think it will be much sooner this time around.  And the boys start school next week (Thursday).. so that should be interesting.  they will be going Monday's and Thursday's.  I'm sure that will be a whole separate blog.

Well enough of this random post.. now onto some random photos...

We went to visit Dad Terry at his office on 280.  My husband cut off Jorgito's head.  And I forgot to open the sling to show Eva.  Oh well..

Rachel holding Eva while Jorge gives her a kiss.

The boys playing with the trains.. this of course turns ugly.  bc as you can see Jorge is taking them from Alex.

Eva wearing a dress for the first time.

Daddy and daughter matching in their pink outfits.

Precious angel.. so cute.
